How to Export from JibberJobber (or, how to backup my JibberJobber data)

How to Export from JibberJobber (or, how to backup my JibberJobber data) I just received the following email/question: If I sign up for the Premium account, Ill likely only need it for less than a year until I secure another job. How do I download all the information so that I have it for the future? I am a big fan of having your own copy of your data I think the best thing to do is regularly export whatever you want and then putting it into a system like Google (email it to yourself, upload it to your drive, etc.). That way you should be able to access it for years to come. Heres a post to help you export your JibberJobber data: Exporting Contacts for Use in Outlook, etc.  (if anything is outdated, let me know). The way you export other things, like Companies, Jobs, log entries, action items, etc. is pretty intuitive once you get how to export Contacts.   Also, a great way to export Contacts is to sync them with Google (you can do a one- or two-way sync) I want to remind you that if you upgrade, it is for a certain period right now, a year. After the year is up you can either upgrade again or you can let your account go down to a free account. The important thing to know is that if you go to a free account, we do not delete any data. We also make all data that you have in the system available you can still search for it, you can add log entries, etc. Once your data is there, it is there. Im not saying there is no reason to back it up, but I do want you to know that if you change your account level (free to premium to free as many times as you want) you wont lose any data you put into the system. I should mention, Ive been doing JibberJobber for almost 13 years now. Many people have found their dream job, then a few months (or years) later come back into JibberJobber to do another job search. Either their dream job was a dud, or things didnt work out, or whatever Remember, JibberJobber is your long-term career management tool not just your job search organizer! Where to Post Your Resume - Effective Job Search Strategies

Where to Post Your Resume - Effective Job Search StrategiesSo you have your resume finished and you want to know where to post it. There are several places that you can use to advertise your resume such as on a job-seeker website, a classified ad, an employment site, or even your college or high school. This article will focus on where to post your resume the most effective way.First, you need to determine how you will use your resume. Are you going to get your resume out to recruiters? Do you want to use it to post it to job sites? Or do you want to use it for all three? If you want to use your resume in a non-recruitment situation, then you want to use your resume in the appropriate way. Posting your resume in the right way is key. For example, if you want to post your resume on a job-seeker website, your resume needs to be centered on your skill sets. Make sure that you include what you have to offer and where you are best suited. You also want to make sure that your resume is attra ctive and interesting. You don't want to have it crammed full of facts and numbers. If you want your resume to be considered, it has to be crisp and clean. Add color as needed to make it interesting. It's also important to remember that you don't want to clutter your resume with too many facts and numbers. Using too many keywords that don't describe your skills or experience can actually be detrimental to your resume. Instead, you want to show your reader why you're the best choice for the job. Remember, your resume is your advertisement.Your next step is to figure out how you will use your resume. Ifyou are looking to get it posted to job sites, then you'll want to include your contact information in your resume and attach your cover letter. A few bullet points and a list of skills and experience are enough to get the ball rolling with your potential employer.Your job-seeking skills need to be polished up. A self-promotional resume might not be the best approach for job-seekers who want to get the most from their resume. Instead, they should work hard at improving their resume and learn how to write a good cover letter.Remember that your resume is the only chance you have to get you noticed. You need to be as professional and appealing as possible. This will also help you get more interviews for your potential job.

Taking Credit When None is Due - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Taking Credit When None is Due - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career During the debt ceiling negotiations, among the punked-style news: a Tea Party leader touted a “massive rally” on behalf of that group (at which less than 2 dozen people actually showed up). He claimed the majority of Americans supported his party’s position because “the phones were lit up and the government websites melted down,” (once President Obama urged us all to contact our representatives to urge them to not default on our global credit obligations). In that televised interview, a fair-minded host aired video of the small, motley crew who made the “rally.” He then reported the statistics on who had contacted their representatives. Better than two-thirds were in fact largely furious that 61 Tea Party freshman congressmen imperiled our country’s sterling creditworthiness, setting off a $700 billion sell off in the stock market (where our 401K plans are now imperiled) over 5 days. Credit where credit is due I bet you aren’t surprised by these shenanigans, because you’ve been punked yourself, and paid for it. Haven’t you worked with someone who wantonly took credit for your ideas or work product? When your boss showed management his PowerPoint with your points on it, did you stage an uprising? No, you sat through the meeting and watched him enjoy the fruits of your labor. Haven’t you lived with someone who was a slacker, and didn’t want to pay bills he owed? Did you just let the house bills go unpaid? And, let him ruin your credit? No, you paid the bills to preserve your credit score and his, too. Hasn’t a classmate who didn’t turn in her part of a group project held you hostage? Didn’t you wind up just taking whatever she got to you, while you did the majority of the project and earned her the same A you deserved? Credit doesn’t always go where it is due. You know that already. But, what can you do about it? Your career depends on your ability to withstand these crises.   Perhaps the future of your company depends on that. Thus, you need a way to remain calm and confident in spite of the madness around you. Being effective regardless of victory or defeat You need to be effective at producing an income, controlling costs and doing work that moves your career forward: no matter who is attempting to defeat, default or otherwise deter you. How? As a career and business coach, my recommendation is that you set up several options whenever that is feasible. For example, line up several job interviews. Don’t stop looking because you got one call back. And, even when you are happy and hired: create something on the side that you find personally meaningful and at least potentially profitable. Or, make sure you keep up with your connections, so if you have to leave a company: you have people who care about you â€" not who hear from you only when you are out of work. Avoid having all your eggs in one basket In business, choose two vendors whenever you can chunk off 20% of the work. That leaves you with an option if one tries to hold your work hostage for more time or more money. Cross train your employees so no one person is the only person who knows how to do anything that is mission critical. Having a set of alternatives: a plan B, C, D, E, F, G and so on, is the best insurance you can have in your career and business. It doesn’t make you disloyal, it’s just good policy. In terms of the debt ceiling dealings, I learned sometimes the only alternative is watching cute kittens on YouTube. Author: Nance Rosen is the author of Speak Up! Succeed. Reducing Stress by Bringing the Outdoors into the Office

Reducing Stress by Bringing the Outdoors into the Office Much emphasis is now being focused on how businesses across the UK can prevent stress and improve wellbeing in the workplace. One of the most fundamental ways in which businesses can ensure stress amongst employees doesn’t spiral out of control and become a mental health issue, is by offering a workplace environment that promotes their wellbeing from the get-go. Creating an office space in which people can flourish will boost overall wellbeing and its links to increased motivation and productivity. After all, if a workspace is designed to promote employee well-being, the business will in turn experience more significant growth. The ‘biophilic’ approach is one of the most popular methods of developing a healthy and positive environment in the workplace. Biophilic stems from the word biophilia, meaning a ‘love of nature’, and was coined by German psychologist Erich Fromm before being popularised by American psychologist Edward O. Wilson in the 1980s. He pointed at how the rapid rise of urbanization was making us more and more disconnected from nature. As humans, we have a deep-rooted biological connection to nature, so outdated, cubicle-style office designs can affect our overall health and wellbeing. It’s no secret stress-related illnesses are a significant contributor of disease, but when we think of nature, it provokes thoughts of an environment full of calmness and relaxation. Some businesses have used this to their advantage by bringing the outdoors into the office. Shifting to a more open, human-centered approach which incorporates features such as large, open window views and natural materials such as wood, stone and water features, can soothe and inspire the mind. Research into the health benefits of biophilic designs carried out by Bill Browning, the founding member of the US Green Building Council’s Board of Directors, and Sir Cary Cooper, CBE Professor of Organisational Psychology and Health at Lancaster University, found an overwhelming increase to employees’ wellbeing. Incorporating direct or indirect elements of nature into the workplace were found to reduce stress, blood pressure levels, and heart rates while increasing productivity and creativity. Furthermore, research by the Journal of Experimental Psychology found that adding just one plant per square mile in an office, employees were 15 percent more productive than those without plants in their workspace. Indoor greenery will also vastly improve air quality, which not only benefits the surrounding environment but the employees’ overall health. So, there are  good reasons behemoth corporations such as Google, Apple and Amazon invest heavily in biophilic designs that nurture health, wellbeing, and productivity. Similar to the biophilic design, eco-friendly office solutions, such as added insulation or underfloor heating for a wooden floor can be an expensive investment initially, but the significant reduction of power used in the long run can be profitable. So not only can going green help to act against climate change, but it can also save you money and be a useful marketing tool to make your brand stand out for its commitment to sustainability in the minds of both customers and prospective employees. Also, if a workspace is visually pleasing, potential employees, consumers, and investors are more likely to recognize and respect the businesses’ service. Ultimately, by enhancing spaces to reduce stress and boost overall wellbeing and safety, businesses can maximize the potential for productivity and growth. About the author: Lloyd Coldrick is the managing director at Cobus. He has been with the company for ten years and is highly experienced in creating inspiring spaces for the workplace environment.

A Few Tips on Using Functional Resume Templates

A Few Tips on Using Functional Resume TemplatesIf you are trying to get a job in the work force today, you will find yourself utilizing functional resume templates more. What they are, you ask? They are applicant resume templates, that are specifically designed to help you get the job you want by using certain formatting and information that are specific to your personality. This will make it easier for your potential employer to match your resume to your qualifications and make it easier for them to make a good decision about whether or not to hire you.The next time you are considering using a functional resume template, you may want to read this article first. There are many ways to customize and tailor these templates to better suit your needs. Knowing how to customize them can be very helpful, so you can better understand your strengths and weaknesses, and what the employer is looking for when they go through the resume sections. In the past, many people were not able to find a p rofessional template to use, so they had to go through all of the work of crafting their own. This was an extremely time consuming process, and sometimes the results were disastrous. When you use a functional resume template, you will save yourself a lot of time and effort and be able to get a much more successful application, without any of the frustration involved with having to come up with your own. In fact, functional resume templates are actually easier to use than conventional resume templates. This is because there are many extra features that have been included into the template to help you. Here are some tips on how to best customize them so that you can get the job you want.First, you should think about your overall impression and presentation. Be sure to pay attention to the details in the template. You do not want to come across as anything less than professional. You will want to highlight all of the positive aspects of your qualifications, and try to do this in a manne r that shows them off well. Be sure to include the areas where you excel the most, and emphasize them.If you are currently working on a current project, you will want to include the details of the work you have completed. The wordings of these projects should be carefully selected and if possible, include the dates of those projects. There are times when the wordings of these projects will change, but you want to ensure that your resume displays the same amount of information at all times. Most of the functional resume templates will allow you to add this information. One area that is often left out of traditional resumes is where you were educated. You can include it by including the schools and colleges you attended, or even using other information such as the initials of your school. If you are unsure what type of degree you should include, always ask the functional resume template writer about this.To finish up your resume, you may want to consider including the testimonials of y our past employers, or perhaps from current employers. These can all be added in after the information about your skills and education is included. There are also some functional resume templates that include a section on the organizations or groups you belong to. This is an important part of your resume and should be included. It is also important to note that functional resume templates are typically divided into different sections, and that you can alter the section types if needed. If you have any trouble applying the information found in a functional resume template, you can always request that your resume be custom made. Your employer may be willing to accommodate your needs, and if you can't work with them, there are also many resume making services available online that can create a professionally crafted resume for you.

Moreover, good quality content is the backbone of your SEO campaign which allows you to enjoy a higher ranking on SERP and drive more visitors to your platform. How to Improve Your Writing Skills? But the road to success is never straightforward, and the same holds true for writing. One must possess certain qualities and skills to be successful in this profession. If you are new to the world of writing, then you need to work extra hard on improving your skills. Here are some tips and tricks that would clear out the basics that a beginner requires to start off decently without getting disheartened. Concentration and focus are the foremost things you would require in the whole act of writing as well as while reading the tips mentioned below so that you are able to grasp the idea behind the tips and finally apply it to your writing.evalSo, here we go w ith the tips to enhance writing skills for a beginner: â€"1) Practiceeval“Practice makes a man perfect.” You must have come across the proverb at least once in your lifetime. The fact is that the proverb is universally applicable to anything that you come across. It could be any simple activity like reading or some complex talents like acrobatics.Even if you are not able to deliver your desired potential, in the beginning, you must not lose hope during your journey. Be true to your journey and develop a habit of writing regularly and follow it without fail. Missing out on your practice schedule can compromise on the improvement that you have been able to achieve in the whole time. Whatever may be your genre of writing, it will only get better with practice. So, start by picking up some pertinent topics and write about them in your own words. You can put it online for others to share their views or send it to someone with previous experience. Their feedback should be taken in stri de, and the criticism that comes your way should be considered as constructive criticism. evalDo not feel disheartened. The practice is very important. Keep practicing and mark these words that efforts never go in vain; neither will your improvement and art of writing. Slowly but surely, you will be able to acquire the skills required to excel in the world of writing.2) Develop Your Own StructureYou must have come across a popular author or blog writer or any content creator that has impressed you beyond limits and now you want to have an exceptional writing style like him.Do not ever make this mistake. Having inspiration is not a harmful thing, but you need to be careful that you have to develop your special skills on your own. No one wants to see a photocopy of another popular writer. The only thing you will become famous for is plagiarism in such a scenario. Now, you don’t want that, do you? So, keep writing until you notice your own structure and pattern and try to improve it with time.Strategize and come up with your own idea of enticing a large audience. You have to be original if you wish to make it big for a writer. Even if it is just a hobby, it is always better to be original.3) Look for Your Field of InterestNo one is capable of writing in all genres and all styles. Some genres are best written by a particular writer, and some genres are better to be left untouched. You can’t be good at everything. Look out for your own interest.Along with looking out for your field of interest, you also have to find out what pattern of writing suits your structure. Every genre of writing needs a whole framework of varying styles of writing, modified structure, and a suitable thinking process. So, you have a pool of options waiting for you. Dive into it, experiment at all the stuff available and then come up with the genre and pattern that suits your writing style perfectly. You can choose any one of the broader categories: content writingand creative writing.4) K eep it Simple and SoberAlthough complex writing structures are applauded by critics, yet let’s not forget that you are still a beginner. Additionally, not everyone can excel in the complex writing style. If you make a mess in the write-up, it will be criticized negatively than positively.evalNot everyone can handle too much negative criticism. So, a safer and better way is to resort to using a simple and sober term.Along with having the benefit of a simple structure, it also reaches a mass audience. Understanding high-quality content is not for everyone, and people read what they can relate to.Remember that you are writing for an audience, so you must gauge what the audience wants. Your terminology and style of writing should be according to the preferences of your target audience. For instance, for children, you need simple terms and creative writing while for research papers, you need to use professional terms and keep the content precise and to the point. After all, how many of us have gone through Shakespeare’s writings and understand every verse that he has penned down?5) Research WellevalBefore you present our thoughts through your writing, you have to take care of the fact that the wrong facts mentioned can add to your downfall. So, before you pen it down, research the concerned topic in detail.evalWrite down well researched and authentic facts gathered from reliable sources all over the internet or books or newspapers or basically any authentic source of information. Do not start writing just because you have a good idea. You need to develop a proper structure and then write accordingly because only then can you keep your readers engrossed.6) Take a Glance at the Grammar and SpellingsOkay, we know that being a beginner does not mean that you lack grammar and spelling, but it is not harmful to revisit the pages of rules and spellings to not make any unintended mistakes while writing down.Along with your writing being original, it should be of high qu ality. Now, high-quality writing requires a lot of various aspects being structure, choice of words, idea, and ideology, to name a few. Grammar and spelling are one of them and to deliver high-quality content, you must brush up your skills while taking grammar and spelling into consideration. If required, there are various free as well as paid online tools that can help you get the grammar part correct.7) Work for a Content Writing CompanyIf you want some exposure to the writing world, you can always go for working for a short duration under any content writing company. There are a lot of content writing companiesthat hire employees on a short-term basis. You can look for such a company and work under it for some time. Working under your superiors who have had years of experience at content writing will help you improve a lot. They will teach you the writing principles while you are already delivering write-ups.Working for a content writing company is a great move before you dive int o writing for your own self.8) ReadYes, you read that correctly! Writing and reading go hand in hand. While you do not have to be a writer in order to be an avid reader, but you have to read in a decent amount if you think of writing. You should read in order to get an idea of how experienced writer uses the words to deliver their ideas and take inspiration from them for your own writings. It also has various other benefits that can contribute a lot to writing. Reading also increases your command over spellings and grammar. It also increases your fluency in the concerned language. It also makes you better at vocabulary. So, you must have got it now that reading has a lot of benefits and you can use them greatly while writing on your own.9) Use Outlines for Your Write-upsIt is always beneficial to make outlines before you write. Make a certain plot around the introduction. Think of how much you want to write in the introduction.Next, move to the body. Think of how many parts you want yo ur body to be segregated into. Decide the outlines of the segregations made in the body. Decide how much matter is supposed to be written into each part and set a word limit for each part. The last is the conclusion which is completely your call. It can be as short as a line or two and as long as a paragraph or two. Still, set another word limit and outline for your conclusion.10) Don’t HesitateYou should never hesitate to voice out your opinion over things. Do not fear getting judged by masses. Stay calm and true to your stand. It is okay to have a different viewpoint of the majority.Do not hesitate while writing down. Pour your heart on the paper, and it will do wonders. Good Things Come to Those Who Ask

Good Things Come to Those Who Ask Jack Canfield is one of my favorite success coaches and a pioneer in the change your thoughts, change your life mindset. He speaks from experience, going from making $8000 a year as a teacher, to making multi-millions as an international speaker and coach. His techniques are simple and very effective. Ive seen my own business triple in the last year and I owe a lot of my thanks to him.   Enjoy!   Erin Good Things Come to Those Who Ask! by Jack Canfield Asking for what you need is probably the most underutilized tool for people. And yet, amazing requests have been granted to people simply because theyve asked for it! Whether its money, information, support, assistance, or time, most people are afraid to ask for what they need in order to make their dreams come true. They might be afraid of looking needy, ignorant, helpless, or even greedy. More than likely though, it is the fear of rejection that is holding them back. Even though they are afraid to hear the word no, theyre already saying it to themselves by not asking! Do you ask for what you want or are you afraid of rejection? Consider this: Rejection is just a concept. There is really no such thing as rejection! Youre not any worse off by hearing no than you were before you asked. You didnt have what you asked for before you asked and you still dont, so what did you lose? Being rejected doesnt hold you back from anything. Only YOU hold yourself back. How to Ask for What You Want Theres a specific science to asking for and getting what you want or need in life. And while I recommend you learn more by studying The Aladdin Factor, here are some quick tips to get you started: 1. Ask as if you expect to get it. Ask with a positive expectation. Ask from the place that you have already been given it. It is a done deal. Ask as if you expect to get a yes. 2. Assume you can. Dont start with the assumption that you cant get it. If you are going to assume, assume you can get an upgrade. Assume you can get a table by the window. Assume that you can return it without a sales slip. Assume that you can get a scholarship, that you can get a raise, that you can get tickets at this late date. Dont ever assume against yourself. 3. Ask someone who can give it to you. Qualify the person. Who would I have to speak to to getWho is authorized to make a decision aboutWhat would have to happen for me to get 4. Be clear and specific. In my seminars, I often ask, Who wants more money in their life? Ill pick someone who raised their hand and give them a quarter, asking, Is that enough for you? No? Well, how would I know how much you want. How would anybody know? You need to ask for a specific number. Too many people are walking around wanting more of something, but not being specific enough to obtain it. 5. Ask repeatedly. One of the most important Success Principles is the commitment to not give up. Whenever were asking others to participate in the fulfillment of our goals, some people are going to say no. They may have other priorities, commitments and reasons not to participate. Its no reflection on you. Just get used to the idea that theres going to be a lot of rejection along the way to the brass ring. The key is to not give up. When someone says No you say NEXT! Why? Because when you keep on asking, even the same person again and againthey might say yes on a different day when they are in a better mood when you have new data to present after youve proven your commitment to them when circumstances have changed when youve learned how to close better when youve established better rapport when they trust you more when you have paid your dues when the economy is better and so on. Kids know this Success Principle better than anyone. They will ask the same person over and over again without any hesitation (can you relate!). Getting a good perspective on rejection and learning how to ask will make a world of difference for you as you work toward your goals. Practice asking and youll get very good at it! Youll even speed your progress by getting what you need, or improving yourself in order to get it later. Make a list of what you need to ask for in all areas of your life, and start asking.
